Rewarding job opportunities available in Tameside Children’s Services

Date Released - 09/12/2022

JOB OPPORTUNITIES are available for people committed to supporting and making a difference to the lives of children and families in Tameside.

Tameside Children’s Services currently have opportunities for committed newly qualified and experienced social workers to join us in our duty and assessment, safeguarding and support neighbourhood teams. The work in Tameside is varied and new starters will have opportunities to learn new skills, gain experience, and to progress their career.

Recruits will receive some of the highest levels of pay in the area, dedicated desk space, and flexible blended home and office working is available and encouraged for all our staff.

Tameside offers a comprehensive support package for ASYE social workers, guaranteeing a reduced caseload throughout their first year of practice, and bespoke training to meet development needs. More experienced staff will receive specialist training and career opportunities.

Children’s Services teams have manageable caseloads to ensure children receive the necessary support to help them achieve and thrive.

Cllr Bill Fairfoull, Tameside Council Deputy Executive Leader with responsibility for Children and Families, said: “It’s a great time to join our Children’s Services team and play your part in supporting children and families across the borough. I’m proud to say that any new recruits will join an organisation that cares about the wellbeing and work/life balance of its employees.

“We’re committed to building a quality service that supports children and families and want you to be part of our ongoing journey!”

Maggie Pragnall, 2nd year social worker, said: “I have just completed my Assisted and Supported Year in Employment as a social worker at Tameside, and because of my protected caseload I have been given opportunities to grow and develop my practice. I have found that my colleagues at Tameside are kind, caring and passionate about the work they do, and the management are knowledgeable, approachable and very supportive.”
